This view looking northwards along the beach is rather similar to the one Turner used for his watercolour (Deal Town Hall)1 engraved by William Radclyffe in 1826 for Picturesque Views on the Southern Coast of England. It shows the signal flags Turner depicted in the watercolour. However, the resemblance may be coincidental and this may not be quite the same stretch of the long beach.
