The larger of the two sketches is a distant view of Oxford, drawn inversely relative to the foliation. Turner has suggested the profiles of the Radcliffe Camera, All Souls College, St Mary’s Church, and Christ Church College and Cathedral. The viewpoint is similar to Tate D28347; Turner Bequest CCLXXXIX 29.
The remaining space has been used by Turner to record a basic linear profile of the Moselle valley, with a church at the water’s edge and a bridge of boats before it.
