These slight and cursory views depict Colchester, in Essex. The tower with a small spire rising from its centre is pictured again in Tate D18166; Turner Bequest CCIX 4a and in the highly finished watercolour of Colchester belonging to the Courtauld Institute Gallery, London (see Tate impressions T04511–T04512).1
The right side of the page has the continuation of a prospect from the folio opposite (Tate D18165; Turner Bequest CCIX 4).
