With the page turned horizontally, Drake’s Island and the Citadel beyond are seen to the north-east across Plymouth Sound, from Ravenness Point, Mount Edgcumbe. Views to the south-east from here or nearby appear on folios 24 recto and 26 recto (D09241, D09243). The subjects as far as folio 127 recto (D09358) are all identified or presumed sites within a few miles in and around Plymouth, suggesting a series of fairly short excursions.
