Continued from folio 42 verso (D13653; CLXVII 4a) is a sketch of the top of Calton Hill with (on 42 verso) figures at work and play. At the right of the present page is a continuation of the view of Edinburgh from Calton Hill from folio 42 (D13652; CLXVII 40). Turner must have peeled back that page in order to continue his sketch here and show more of Edinburgh’s New Town.
There is a blue ink stain (matching the colour of Finberg’s blue ink inscription) at the centre top of the page.
