Turner repeatedly drew the famous panoramic vista of Florence from Fiesole, but he also recorded the view of distant Fiesole from the road from Florence to the south. This sketch depicts the hilly Tuscan landscape from a point near the banks of the River Mugnone with Fiesole on the right and a vineyard on the left. Related views can be seen on folios 79 verso–80 (D16619–D16620).
At the top of the page there are additional rough details suggesting a further unidentified landscape subject.
