The most prominent of the drawings here, made inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, shows the approach up the slope from the west to the North-West Tower of Haddon Hall, past the stable block with its central archway. At the top right appears a very loose outline, apparently of one of the outer fronts of the house. Above to the left, as Ian Warrell has noted,1 are the Terrace Stairs, in the gardens at the opposite corner of the house, with the stone balls on the parapet roughly indicated. There is also a slight continuation of the view of the South Front on folio 28 recto opposite.
Below, framed by pencil lines, are three further views, upside down in relation to those already described. These are rather jumbled, but there appears to be a distant view of the house at the outer corner, labelled ‘Fish Pool’ in the foreground, with perhaps a view of the house from the gardens at the centre, and a skyline of trees and hills at the inner corner. For other views of the hall, see under folio 24 recto (D22192).
