Drawn with the page turned horizontally, this records the view up Langden Brook towards the Trough of Bowland with the bridge to Hareden in the foreground. Almost exactly the same subject as sketched in greater detail in the Yorkshire 5 sketchbook (Tate D11560–D11561; Turner Bequest CXLVIII 22a–23). The present author has dated the excursion to Monday 22 July 1816.1
