The principal drawing on this folio is a view of Huy rendered in a fine and deliberate line. Three of the city’s monuments are visible: the citadel at the brow of a mount, the square tower of the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame and the arched bridge to its right. With the sketchbook orientated in accordance with the foliation, Turner has drawn a small and slight sketch of Huy with the citadel in the background. At the lowermost register of the sketchbook, at the gutter, is the top of the castle of Franchimont which Turner has continued onto the opposite folio (Tate D28097; Turner Bequest CCLXXXVII 29).
For other views of Huy in this sketchbook see Tate D28048, D28053, D28057, D28067, D28131–D28137, D28139–D28143, D28147, D28149; Turner Bequest CCLXXXVII 4, 6a, 8a, 13a, 47a–50a, 51a–53a, 56a, 57a.
