The printed text comprises sections 152 to 158 of the ‘Direct Roads from London’ section of the British Itinerary. For a concordance of its interleaved pages, see the introduction to the sketchbook.
Towards the bottom right Turner has inscribed some figures and notes either side of the heading of section 158 (‘to Havant’): ‘20 | 13 | 5’ to the left and ‘81 | [...] 101 | [...] 114½’ to the right. These must be distances in the context of the Itinerary’s tables of routes and mileages; as the words preceding two of the numbers are illegible, their significance in terms of the 1811 tour is unclear.
