Turner worked a sketch of a church interior into the top section of this page. A note below places the scene in the town of Nangis, locates some forty miles south-east of Paris. Several impressive ecclesiastical structures belong to that town, notably the Churches of Notre-Dame and Saint-Martin-et-Saint-Magne.
