Kinfauns Castle is seen here from the shore of the River Tay to the south-east. The river is in the foreground, and we look up the heavily wooded slopes of Bin Hill with the outline of Deuchny Hill above. There are further sketches of the castle on folios 27 verso and 29 (D26724, D26721; CCLXXII 31, 29a). Turner visited Kinfauns Castle and the nearby Kinnoull Tower during a tour that took him to Perth; see folio 31 verso (D26744; CCLXXII 41).
