With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with drawings of the estuary settlement of La Roche-Bernard. The upper sketch shows a view down the River La Vilaine while the sketch below shows the village with a carriage in the foreground flanked by jagged rocks. Several studies of this location in Brittany are featured in this part of the volume, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
