Lake Tiny, near the River Washburn on the Wharfedale estate of Walter Fawkes at Farnley Hall, is the subject of various drawings and watercolours by Turner; for drawings made nearby in this sketchbook see folios 1 and 2 (D10343, D10344).
This drawing is made with the sketchbook inverted and continued on folios 37 verso–38 (D10400–D10401). The ‘study of sky’ noted by Finberg is a separate sketch on D10401.
See Introduction and notes to folio 1 (D10343) for Turner’s visits to Walter Fawkes of Farnley Hall and his views of Wharfedale in this sketchbook.
