Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
As identified by David Hill in correspondence with the author,1 this view of the Brévent and part of Mont Blanc, at centre and right respectively, was made from the old Servoz road, which Turner took on his way to Chamonix and Courmayeur. See especially folio 55 in this sketchbook (D04450) for another sketch of the Brévent made near the village of Passy, on the same route.
