The shoreline depicted in this sketch is recognisable as Loch Ness looking north from near Fort Augustus (see for example the sketch inscribed ‘Loch Ness’ on folio 16 verso; D26993). At the top right of this page is a smaller sketch showing the eastern shore (as seen at the right of the larger sketch) in more detail.
