The mill recorded in this sketch is probably one of those in the Weaponness Valley at Scarborough as it runs down to the south bay. Turner sketched a similar mill (but not the same) in this area in the Scarborough 2 sketchbook (Tate D11962; Turner Bequest CLI 10 and following leaves).
