The subject of this sketch has not been identified, although a tentative suggestion is that it depicts a view towards Bassenthwaite from near Keswick. This is because the the hill at the left resembles the western shoulder of Skiddaw as seen from this point looking north. The lake itself cannot be seen in this sketch, but part of it may be visible in a sketch on folio 24 (D25807) which may be from nearby.
