Turner’s brief comment (written with the book inverted) reads: ‘A Picture painted by Guerin in the Place de Victoria – Sextus being banished, his wife dies by Grief, over whose Body he’s meditating, his daughter grasping his knees’. For Turner’s copy of this picture, and notes on the work and its then location in the Place des Victoires, see the verso of this leaf (D04334).
