This is a view of the Hauptmarkt, a main square in Nuremberg, Bavaria. Turner has gone to some lengths to reproduce the gothic apse of St Sebaldus’ Church at left, as well as drawing in lines of perspective and the architectural features of Nuremberg’s Town Hall at right. A figure driving a horse-drawn cart can be seen in the foreground.
