With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with a study of the garden façade of the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris. Particular attention has been paid to the way in which the formal elements of the garden – fountain, statuary, planting – frame the building in the landscape. Despite the apparent interest which Turner has shown in this subject, the volume contains no further sketches locatable to this site.
