This is the first instalment of a two-part panorama of Salzburg depicted from the Mönchsberg (see Tate D30215; Turner Bequest CCC 43a). In this instalment the fortress is shown in the background at right. The buildings in the foreground, from left to right, are: the Cathedral, Stiftskirche St Peter, the Kirche St Blasius and a tower belonging to fortifications on the Mönchsberg.
