In this lively sketch of a river scene, the line of the horizon is broken by the masts of several boats at anchor or perhaps tethered to moorings. The buildings to the right and in the background suggest a town. On the right edge of the sketch is a tower-like structure with two arches or possibly circles suggesting a church with clock tower.
There is a sketch of an unrelated subject on the verso (D20322; CCXXIV 30v).
