With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with drawings of the riverside of Paris with the city’s largest buildings seen in the distance. The sketches on the bottom half of the page are inverted in relation to those on the top. A large dome, belonging to Les Invalides or the Panthéon, is featured at the centre of the page’s top edge and in the bottom right-hand corner. Turner made several sketches of the Parisian riverside in the present volume, a list of which is provided in the sketchbook Introduction.
