The date and occasion of this slight pencil sketch of riverbank buildings are not known. However, it is attached to another sketch depicting the River Seine at Saint-Cloud, which Turner specialist Ian Warrell has suggested records an otherwise undocumented expedition from nearby Paris during the 1826 tour; see entry for Tate D20482; Turner Bequest CCXXIV 176).1

The sheet is attached to D20482 (Turner Bequest CCXXIV 174) along the bottom edge, from which it is divided by a horizontal crease.
