Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. A very slight sketch, this nevertheless represents Rochester and the original, eleven-arched medieval stone bridge over the River Medway. The view is towards Strood and Chatham with the Great Lines above. Another distant view of Rochester is on folio 74 verso of the sketchbook (D06482; Turner Bequest XCIX 70a).
