This sketch, inscribed ‘Rokeby’, shows Rokeby Hall (also known as Rokeby Park) from the south. The central part of the building is flanked by two narrow tower-like structures and two square wings, though Turner has only shown the left (west) side clearly, the right perhaps being obscured by trees or else just ignored by the artist because of its similarity to the left side. The left side of the picture is taken up by the tall trees of Rokeby Park.
At the top right of the page is the continuation from a sketch on folio 52.
The following sketchbook page has been ripped out, presumably before the drawings were made as the sketches on this page and folio 52 overlap.
