The placing of this sketch on the page, turned horizontally, echoes that of several studies in this sketchbook, where a building on a height is seen above wooded banks on the opposite page, for example, folios 17 verso–18 recto and 62 verso–63 recto (D02833–D02834, D02903–D02904). So by implication the wooded glen below the castle at Roslin occupies the blank page opposite (the verso of folio 71; D02917).
