With the sketchbook turned vertically, here Turner has dashed off a series of sketches depicting fishermen at shore with their vessels, shipping at sea, cliff-top buildings and two distant views of the coast. At bottom right, above the windmill, is the inscription ‘Old [...]pole’. The location is possibly at or near Lowestoft, Suffolk.
