This is a sketch of Schloss Weesenstein, a castle in the Mueglitz Valley located to the south of Dresden. Set among wooded hillside and Italianate formal gardens, Weesenstein was for centuries the countryseat of the Saxon kings. See also Tate D30902–D30916; Turner Bequest CCCVI 10–17.
