This is one of a large number of sketches on loose sheets of paper depicting coastal terrain and seagoing vessels in various combinations. This sheet was cut from a much larger sheet, the other sections of which paper expert Peter Bower has located in the Turner Bequest. 1 These are Tate D25346–D25348, D25396–D25398 (Turner Bequest CCLXIII 224–226, 272–275).
