For the old Servoz road, see folios 1, 54 and 55 of this sketchbook (D04393, D04449, D04450). Other sketches from the road in this sketchbook are listed under the last of these. David Hill, in correspondence with the author,1 has identified this view of the Arve valley towards the Pointe Percée, with chalets and a cross in the foreground. The cross is presumably the same as the one in the sketch of the Tour de St Michel that follows on folio 61 (D04458), while another similar view, inscribed by Turner ‘I think St Mic’, is on folio 62 (D04459). For another of the Pointe Percée, seen from near Geneva, see folio 4 verso (D04396).
