With the page turned vertically, this slight sketch shows the east end of the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame and Saint-Laurent, Eu, seen from the south with figures who are perhaps soldiers from the nearby Château d’Eu in the foreground (see the figure studies on folios 57 verso–58 recto (D35588–D35589). Compare the rather more detailed view in the 1824 Rivers Meuse and Moselle sketchbook (Tate D19956; Turner Bequest CCXVI 203).
Separated by a pencil line, above is a continuation of buildings from a horizontal view of the church and château on folio 58 verso opposite (D35590).

Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
