The Danube between Wallsee and Grein is shown in the top three sketches, from successive viewpoints as Turner moved down the river. Grein (inscribed ‘Green’) is depicted inversely at rear, with Greinburg Castle, part of the Saxe-Coberg and Gotha dukedom, visible at left and the parish church at right.
