Inscribed by John Ruskin in red ink ‘37’ bottom right and blue ink ‘7’ bottom left
Stamped in black ‘LXXV 37’ bottom left, descending vertically, and again bottom right
Blind-stamped with the Turner Bequest monogram towards bottom right
A label inscribed by Turner ‘Le Pont de Diable Mt Gothard’ is numbered ‘7’, as is this drawing. The drawing was taken from the road from Andermatt, looking along the River Reuss towards the Devil’s Bridge; the road towards Wassen runs along the right bank of the river. A more distant view from this sketchbook is D04630; Turner Bequest LXXV 38.
