The upper sketch shows Hausstein Island and watchtower on the Danube (see Tate D30253; Turner Bequest CCC 62a). The two remaining sketches are rendered inversely to the view of Hausstein and show Sarmingstein, inscribed ‘Sher[...]ingsten’. The round tower and St Kilian’s Church can be seen in both views (see also Tate D30255; Turner Bequest 63a).
