This view from above Chambéry looking north-west to the Lac du Bourget was probably taken from near Jacobi, since Turner is positioned at a sufficient elevation to be able to see the lake clearly. The view is continued to the right above right to take in the Croix du Nivolet, where inscribed ‘Bare Rock’, and further right and left on D29255; Turner Bequest CCXCIV 24a in this sketchbook.
