Despite Hill’s reservations, this must be Robert Mylne’s Pavilion and the cupola behind it that of All Saints’ Church; this identification was first noted by Edward Croft-Murrary in annotations to a copy of Finberg in Tate’s Library. For the Pavilion and the various idealised or imaginary adaptations of it in this sketchbook, see folio 3 (D05494). Hill’s ‘pedimented summerhouse’ cannot be identified, but is perhaps a misreading of Turner’s marks.
