With the page turned horizontally, the view is north from the Bacino, with the dome and campanile of San Zaccaria at the centre above the Riva degli Schiavoni. Taller waterfront buildings now largely obscure the church apart from its dome. On the right the campanile of San Giorgio dei Greci is shown up the Rio dei Greci, beyond the Ponte della Pietà. Squeezed in at the far left is the campanile of San Marco (St Mark’s).
The right-hand part of the view is shown on a larger scale, albeit in no more detail, on folio 9 recto opposite (D31807); compare also folio 50 verso (D31889).
The scrawled note at the top right is likely unrelated to the subject, and seems to be a memorandum combining names and an address, perhaps in the vicinity of the Canale della Grazia between the islands of San Giorgio Maggiore and the Giudecca.
