This and Tate D03423 (Turner Bequest LVIII 44) appear to show the same view from slightly different positions. The identification is owing to art historian Francina Irwin.1 Turner did not explore the Vale of Earn to any great extent; see the 1801 Scotch Lakes sketchbook (Tate D03195–D03196; Turner Bequest LVI 144a–145).
