These rough sketches, two of which have been rendered with the sketchbook turned upside down, appear to show aspects of a town and a fortification atop a high ridge. Though most of the inscriptions dashed off are illegible, one reading ‘[?Sh...bach]’ may stand for Sulzbach, a town on the River Main in Bavaria.
