A small sketch of a town on the Rhine is located above a view of the Mäuseturm, with Bingen, St Martin’s Church and Burg Klopp in the distance (see Tate D29741; Turner Bequest CCXCVI 74a). The central view shows the Burg Ehrenfels at right, and is inscribed ‘1’ and ‘2’. Below are views of the Mäuseturm, looking upstream and downstream respectively: the sketch inscribed ‘3’ shows the Mäuseturm from Binger Lock with Burg Klopp and Bingen in the distance, and that inscribed ‘4’ depicts the Mäuseturm at left with the Burg Ehrenfels at right.
