This view of Roslin Castle is similar to the drawing on folio 77 verso (D13711; CLXVII 69a) made from the south bank of the North Esk River, though this time from a little further east along the bank. The sketch continues onto the top left of folio 80 (D13716; CLXVII 72) where the nearby Roslin Chapel is depicted. The Pentland Hills rise up beyond the castle to the north-west.
