This page contains a number of swift on-the-spot pencil studies including a man and an ox harnessed to a plough. The rough, shaky lines suggest that the artist may have been drawing from a moving carriage. The inscription beneath the second sketch from the top indicates that the view of tower and walls may represent Cattolica, a town on the Adriatic Coast which Turner would have passed through en route between Rimini and Ancona.
