Schloss Hellbrunnon the Salzach is depicted at centre, with the Untersberg Mountain beyond. Hellbrunn Palace, situated to the south of Salzburg near Morzg, was built in the seventeenth century as a summer residence for Markus Sittikus von Hohenems,Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. ‘1’ is inscribed on the Untersberg at right, with ‘Hellbrun’ inscribed at bottom centre towards right. An ‘Avenue of very fine trees’ can be seen at bottom left. The Untersberg range is continued on the folio opposite (Tate D30166; Turner Bequest CCC 19) in an installation numbered ‘2’.
