Across the top and middle of the page are two wooded landscapes, perhaps showing aspects of a river valley; these continue across folio 57 recto opposite (D22530). See the Introduction for similar drawings elsewhere in the sketchbook.
Below, inverted relative to the other two, is a slight but characterful sketch of figures on a beach, as indicated by Turner’s note of the tide. Like other such figures in the book, these were perhaps observed at Margate (see the Introduction).
