These drawings were made in three bands with the page turned vertically. They show yachts under sail, and possibly racing at some speed in the upper two. In the calmer view at the bottom, East Cowes appears to be loosely indicated in the background above the River Medina, with East Cowes Castle (see under folio 1 verso; D20597) on the skyline to the south-east on the right.
