This is possibly a view of the River Ouse, which flows through Lewes, with trees at the left, a square building (possibly the church of St John sub Castro, seen on folio 2 verso opposite; D35264) in the centre and cliffs at the right-hand side. The tower-like building in the right foreground is possibly a separate study, drawn over the cliffs.
