Folio 54 Verso:
Two Horses; a Landscape with Buildings 1828
D21948
Turner Bequest CCXXXVII 54a
Pencil on white wove paper, 88 x 71 mm
Inscribed in pencil by Turner ‘Blue Har | Rd’ towards top right

Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Turning the sketchbook vertically, Turner filled the upper section of this page with a rough outline of two horses loaded with goods. His upper inscription ‘Blue Har | Rd’ appears to provide colour notes relating to a harness. Beneath is a slight landscape study with buildings in the foreground and a road leading towards distant hills.
