This is an itinerary of Turner’s tour of the Wey and Godalming Navigations; see Introduction to the sketchbook. Hill notes that the larger expenses would indicate overnight stays or moorings. Finberg misread Turner’s reference to St. Catherine’s, the lock and ferry near Guildford, as ‘1st Catch’ and took it to refer to Turner’s fishing activities. Hill reads ‘12’ for the ‘11’ on the bottom line. He speculates that as the inscription is ‘upside down in relation to the sketches of Windsor and the Wey which follow it ... it seems possible that at some stage the cover has been reversed’.
